October 2, 2014 - The Blaze

Singer-songwriter Dennis Jernigan has been making Christian music for decades, recording with big-name acts like Natalie Grant and Rebecca St. James — but he’s also known for another very pointed and controversial reason: he’s a past homosexual who openly shares his story...

September 20, 2014 - SINGING4HIM

A few days ago, I was contacted by a friend and asked if I would review the new Dennis Jernigan documentary “Sing Over Me.”  All that was requested of me is to be honest in my assessment, and to share that assessment in a blog.  If you know me, then you know that I love movies, and a certainly don’t mind sharing my opinion (not always a good thing, by the way.), so this was not a daunting task at all. Rather, it was one that I was very honored to receive and it really piqued my curiosity.  I had heard of Dennis Jernigan’s struggles, and I was eager to hear what he had to say...

September 20, 2014 - Lena Nelson Dooley

I first heard Dennis Jernigan in the 1980s in concert at our church in Texas. He came to our church more than once, and our choir, which I sang in, did a lot of his music. Since the 1980s, he has written the music my heart feels. During that time, I learned about bits and pieces of his history and his deliverance. I'm really not a fan of documentaries, but this one touched my heart. This DVD tells the whole story, revealing the awesome power of God in all of our lives. I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting his music, which led me into worship times with the Lord during much of the music. His story is one that needs to be told today. It will bring hope to many people who see no hope in their future because of their addictions, sexual or otherwise. I think that every Christian should view this story...

September 18, 2014 - The Journey of Acent

Unless you are actively involved in worship ministry, the name Dennis Jernigan may not mean much to you. He is responsible for songs like, 'You Are My All in All', 'We Will Worship The Lamb of Glory', 'Who Can Satisfy', and 'Thank You, Lord.' Here's something else that even those involved in worship ministry may not have known unless they have followed Jernigan's ministry. Through most of his early life, Dennis struggled greatly with homosexuality...

Homosexuality and Hymns

August 5, 2014 - Rebecca Seitz Blog

This is not an easy post to write. I love people. (Well, most people. I should love all people, but a couple are just the other side of impossible, you know?) I have this awesome privilege of hearing people’s stories all day long – of bringing those stories to the attention of a large audience. I’m going to do that here.

March 23, 2014 - Queerty

Queerty spoke with Kindberg while he was en route to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the film’s premiere. A special screening was held last month at the Eastwood Baptist Church. Kindberg chatted about the project, as well as his right-wing take on the Bible (“Lusting after someone of the same sex or engaging in sexual activity with someone of the same sex is sinful”) and his negative feelings about gay marriage (“‘Same-sex marriage’ is, by God’s definition, impossible”) among other things.
